Yonatan Dinku and Janet Hunt collaborated with the research team at the Centre of Excellence for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Statistics, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Darwin Office to research and produce a feature article focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people not in the labour force. The article has been published on the ABS website.
The study draws on data from the 2014-15 National Aboriginal and Torres Stript Islander Survey and employs both descriptive and multivariate data analysis techniques to identify the factors associated with the labour force participation of the Indigenous working-age population (15-64 years old). Yonatan and Janet’s main roles were to clean the data, choose the variables of interest and analyse the data. As well as providing general commentaries on the format of the report, they made major contributions in interpreting the results and drawing conclusions.
